What is Halal Sushi?
Simply put, Halal Sushi is Sushi that adheres to Islamic dietary laws. This means the ingredients used in the dish must be Halal – or permissible according to Islamic law.
“Lawful to you is what you catch from the sea and use for food as provision for yourself and for the travelers.” – 5:96 of the Qur’an.
So yes Muslims can eat Sushi however, in traditional Sushi alcohol is present in the form of Mirin. Mirin is used in the process of cooking the rice. To make Sushi Halal they simply replace Mirin with Lime water or don’t use it at all.
